MEET THE RIDERS

BRING your cameras and autograph books - here’s your chance to meet the Redcar Bears stars!
For every member of the NEBT/Simpson Racing UK Bears side will meet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures outside the BSG office at South Tees Motorsports Park this season. Arlo Bugeja was the first rider to be involved in the exciting new BSG initiative after the Premier League curtain raiser against Stoke.

Now, following its success, the BSG have announced that a member of the team will be available for photos and a signing session after every home meeting starting with the Premier Trophy derby clash against Newcastle on
Thursday, May 21. Benji Compton will be the Bears star on parade on that night, and the plan
is for a rider to appear every night after the following five race nights.

"We started with No 7 and we’ll work our way up to No 1," explained BSG chairman Graham Porter.
"There were regular signing sessions at STMP a couple of years back and people have been asking whether they were coming back - so we decided to do something about it! "It’s a great opportunity for fans to meet the riders and we were greatly encouraged by the response when Arlo joined us."

BSG STATEMENT 6-5-09

After lengthy and serious discussion, the Bears Supporters Group has decided to disassociate itself from the unofficial Redcar Bears Forum.
The group believe it is in their best interests, following prolonged and unwelcome negative publicity.

Since forming in 2007, the BSG has been successfully achieving its aims of promoting the club, facilitating away travel for fans and helping the riders, we feel that this not been reflected on the forum. In fact, it is our opinion that many users have been blatantly anti-BSG, therefore to continue to use the forum would appear to condone such behaviour.

Given that some of the BSG committee, including the chairman and secretary, are currently banned from posting on the forum, many members dare not post on the forum for the fear of being banned themselves!
This is clearly detrimental to the aims of the BSG.

The decision was taken unanimously at this week’s, monthly BSG meeting.
All BSG events and happenings will now be promoted only on the group’s own website - www.thebsg.webs.com and also in the Evening Gazette and on www.gazettelive.co.uk

IT'S GOOD TO TALK

SKIPPER Gary Havelock plus new signings Carl Stonehewer and Robbie Kessler were the special guests at the BSG's lastest fans' forum.
The three Bears enthralled a packed house at Acklam Rugby Club with tales of their long and illustrious careers as well as giving their views on the season ahead.
The event, compered by Evening Gazette speedway writer and BSG member Martin Neal, was also attented by team manager and promoter Brian Havelock plus Aussie reserve Arlo Bugeja.
Blind cards and a race night, organised by Havvy Snr, added to the entertainment and helped to raise over £200 for BSG funds, which in turn will be used to help the team.

THE BSG will have its own column in the Bears match programme this season.
The column, which will be penned by BSG member Charlotte Welford, will publicise the group's events and reflect recent happenings.
It will appear each week, starting with the opening night challenge match against Newcastle on March 26th.
The programme was voted best in the Premier League by Speedway Star in 2007 and editor Gareth Rogers is eager to reclaim that accolade.
